Michael Moriarty Joins Disney's Experiences Division as CFO
The Walt Disney Company is undergoing a significant leadership change in its Experiences division, which encompasses theme parks, cruise lines, and consumer products. Kevin Lansberry, the current CFO of Disney Experiences, is set to retire after an impressive 39-year tenure with the company. Taking his place is Michael Moriarty, currently serving as President and managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
Moriarty's appointment as Executive Vice President and CFO marks a strategic move by Disney. Chairman Josh D'Amaro praised Moriarty's expertise, stating, 'Michael Moriarty brings a deep understanding of our long-term strategy to broaden the reach and impact of Disney Experiences. His global perspective and leadership will guide us through an exciting chapter of growth.'
Moriarty's career at Disney is extensive. Prior to his current role, he held the position of CFO at Hong Kong Disneyland, as well as CFO at Walt Disney Imagineering and senior finance roles at Walt Disney World. The company plans to announce his successor at Hong Kong Disneyland at a later date.
Kevin Lansberry's retirement is a significant milestone. He has held various roles at Disney, including a temporary CFO position after Christine McCarthy's departure in 2023. Hugh Johnston was appointed as the permanent CFO later that year, and Lansberry returned to the Experiences division. This transition reflects Disney's commitment to adapting its leadership for future growth and success.
