Samsung is reportedly gearing up for the US launch of its upcoming Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone, with signs pointing to a US release. The company is testing firmware for a new, unlocked Galaxy Z TriFold model, which confirms that the device will be available in US markets through retail channels and cellular carriers. This folding phone, which unfolds twice to reveal a 10-inch main screen, is no longer a concept. Samsung has already teased the phone, known as the Galaxy Z TriFold, at a recent event in South Korea. While it's expected to have a limited release outside of South Korea, the US is on the horizon. Samsung is making preparations, including firmware testing for US models, to bring the Galaxy Z TriFold stateside. SamMobile reports that Samsung is currently testing firmware for another Galaxy Z TriFold model, SM-F968U1, which is the unlocked version sold directly from Samsung and its retail partners. This confirms Samsung's plans to sell the Galaxy Z TriFold in the US through both retail and carrier channels. The late firmware testing is a sign that the Galaxy Z TriFold is nearing a US release, with rumors pointing to a launch before the end of the year, specifically on December 5th. If this date is accurate, we won't have to wait long for official pricing and specifications. The Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to feature a 6.5-inch outer screen and a 10-inch main screen, with a 2,600-nit peak brightness rating on the cover display. The chip inside will be either the last-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite or the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. With the rumored launch date approaching, we're getting closer to knowing more about this innovative device.
